Advertising students win regional and local ADDY Awards

Advertising students at the Robertson School of Media and Culture have won 11 ADDY Award of the American Advertising Federation. Guided by Professors Jay Adams and Marcel Jennings, the students won a Gold and a Silver ADDY Award at the AAF District 3 competition (North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia).

But the ingenuity and tenacity of professors and students led them to develop a historic alternative, the first virtual CreateAthon.

Three Virginia Commonwealth University students have been selected for the 2020 Critical Language Scholarship, a highly competitive scholarship funded by the U.S. Department of State for the study of 15 languages deemed critical to the United States’ diplomatic and security interests.

SPJ honors 24 VCU entries in Mark of Excellence contest

The Society of Professional Journalists announced the winners in the 2019 Mark of Excellence contest for Region 2 (Virginia, Maryland, North Carolina, Delaware and the District of Columbia) this week. According to Robertson School Professor Jeff South, SPJ honored a total of 24 entries from VCU: Eight first-place winners (which have advanced to the national competition) and 16 finalists.

The Robertson School of Media presented a new brochure for its prospective undergraduate students with a separate insert for its graduate programs. The brochure is now available in a digital format and will become available in print once the VCU campus reopens after the COVID-19 pandemic.

Online graduate program application deadline extended to May 1

The Robertson School of Media and Culture has extended the application deadline for its Multimedia Journalism and Strategic Public Relations master's programs to allow for additional students to consider graduate school in the current situation. The new deadline is May 1.
