Description of Organization: Main Projects is a contemporary art gallery located in the heart of Richmond’s Main Street arts corridor. We are dedicated to showcasing emerging and mid-career artists, while creating dynamic dialogue between top local talent and internationally recognized artists. Our goal is to cultivate a vibrant cultural exchange and foster deeper public engagement with contemporary art.

Intern Responsibilities: We are seeking a creative and self-motivated Public Relations & Marketing Intern to join our small, collaborative team. This internship offers hands-on experience in arts communications, digital content creation, and community outreach. Interns will play an integral role in shaping the gallery’s public voice and increasing visibility within Richmond’s art scene and beyond.

Intern Qualifications:  Position is open to junior and seniors. Ideal candidates will have a strong interest in contemporary art, art history, or design; possess excellent writing and communication skills, and be familiar with social media platforms and digital tools. We are looking for someone who can work collaboratively with the team, but execute tasks independently.  We appreciate a detail oriented, organized and proactive candidate.

When offered:

  • Summer, 10-15 hours per week, 8-10 weeks
  • Fall, entire semester, 10-20 hours per week
  • Spring, entire semester, 10-20 hours per week

Paid/unpaid/stipend: unpaid, but we will offer an end-of-semester stipend
