Spring 2026: VCU Enterprise Marketing & Communications - PR Intern (PAID)

The PR internship program provides upperclassmen and graduate students studying Mass Comm or a related field with first-hand knowledge of university and hospital public and media relations.

Interns gain skills in writing news releases and feature articles for the VCU News Center, developing and researching stories and conducting interviews. Other opportunities include special projects, strategic communications planning and working with media on campus.

Qualifications: Students should be familiar with AP Style, have knowledge of news writing and have an interest in pursuing a career in public relations, print/broadcast journalism or a related field.

Paid and For-Credit Internships: Internships can be paid, for-credit or both and are available year-round. Students interning for credit must schedule regular hours (approximately 10-15 hours per week) to earn two- or three-credit hours.

How to Apply: To apply for an internship at EMC’s Public Relations office, submit a portfolio containing:

  • Resume
  • Cover letter explaining how the internship fits into your career plans
  • Two complete prose pieces of any length, fiction or nonfiction
