Seasonal Roots - Social Media & Communications Internship

Seasonal Roots is Virginia’s largest online farmer’s market. At Seasonal Roots, our mission is to connect  local families with local farmers to provide the freshest, healthiest food possible while supporting  sustainable agriculture and our local economy. We believe in the power of fresh, locally-sourced food to  nourish our bodies, our communities, and our planet.  

General job duties of Social Media & Communications Interns:  

Content Support:  

• Assist with planning and scheduling posts for the social media content calendar. 
• Collaborate with the team to create engaging, on-brand content for various platforms.  

Community Engagement:  

• Monitor and respond to comments, messages, and mentions in a timely and professional manner.  
• Help foster a positive online community that aligns with the company’s values. 

Campaign Assistance:  

• Support the execution of social media campaigns, including special events and product launches.  
• Assist in coordinating with external partners for paid social campaigns as needed. 

Analytics and Reporting:  

• Help track social media performance metrics and gather data for reports.  
• Provide insights and suggestions for improving engagement based on performance   trends.  

Research and Trends:  

• Stay updated on social media trends and platform updates.  
• Bring fresh ideas to the team to enhance social media presence.  

Qualifications applicants should possess:  

• Currently pursuing a degree in Marketing, Communications, or a related field. 
• Familiarity with major social media platforms (e.g., Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, TikTok). 
• Strong written and visual communication skills.  
• Enthusiasm for social media marketing and eagerness to learn.  
• Basic knowledge of social media tools (e.g., Hootsuite, Canva) is a plus.  

This internship is offered year-round. Hours are flexible. This is an unpaid internship.
