ReEstablish Richmond is recruiting a Communications + Social Media Intern for Fall 2025 - Spring 2026
Start Date: August or September 2025
End Date: May or June 2026
Time Commitment: 5-8 hours a week
*Please note: This internship is unpaid. Our ideal candidate would work 3 credit hours across the fall and spring semester, but we can be flexible.
The Communications + Social Media Intern will be responsible for building the capacity of our outreach programming and supporting the agency’s communication and social media. Working through a values-based lens, you will be responsible for helping to effectively craft and implement most aspects of our communication to the broader community. This position reports directly to the Outreach and Volunteer Engagement Manager.

Job Description:
The Communications + Social Media Intern will be responsible for building the capacity of our outreach programming and supporting the agency’s communication and social media. Working through a values-based lens, you will be responsible for helping to effectively craft and implement most aspects of our communication to the broader community. This position reports directly to the Outreach and Volunteer Engagement Manager.

Responsibilities:
• Help lead social media planning, creating copy and digital content for use across all platforms. Maintain and schedule posts across platforms
• Document (visually and in writing) program updates and success stories of clients matched with volunteers, adhering to ethical guidelines as well as agency boundaries around client confidentiality and branding and communications guidelines
• Support content and design creation of other external communication products, including website updates, blog posts, newsletters, presentations, etc. as needed
• And other tasks as needed
Requirements:
• Must be a U.S. Citizen or Lawful Permanent Resident (LPR) authorized to work in the U.S.
• Must be at least 18 years old, or at least a rising senior in high school
• Must be high school graduate, GED recipient, or working toward attaining a high school diploma / GED during their term of service
• Must complete a National Service Criminal History check ReEstablish Richmond
Expectations:
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong project management and attention to detail- must be able to keep track of multiple projects at once
• Strong layout, composition, and design skills
• Proficiency working across different systems such as G-Suite, Office 365, Squarespace, Canva, Meta Suite, and LinkedIn and willingness to learn new platforms as needed
• Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with program staff, volunteers, and clients
• Familiarity with photography, including knowledge of composition, lighting, and editing a plus
• Flexible, willing to learn new things, and open to receive feedback and grow from challenges
• Ability to work well both independently as well as on a team
• Comfort working with people from diverse cultures
