Communications & Media Intern
Location: Trinity Lutheran Church and Preschool, Richmond, VA
Hours: Approximately 10 hours per week
Compensation: $20/hour
Term: August 2025 – May 2026

Position Overview:
Trinity Lutheran church and Preschool is seeking a creative and motivated Communications & Media Intern to support our mission through strategic digital and print communication.  This part-time internship offers upperclassmen at VCU hands-on experience in marketing, digital media, and communications within a nonprofit, faith-based environment that includes both a vibrant church community and a growing preschool program.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and regularly update the church and preschool website with current events, announcements, and resources
  • Create, schedule, and manage content for social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, etc.) to engage current members, attract visitors, and promote the preschool
  • Design and implement digital campaigns for seasonal events, preschool enrollment, special services, and community outreach
  • Assist with internal communications, including newsletters and email updates
  • Collaborate with church and preschool leadership to ensure consistency in messaging and brand identity
  • Attend occasional staff meetings (virtually or in person) to coordinate upcoming communications needs

Qualifications:

  • Current junior or senior at VCU studying communications, marketing, digital media, or a related field
  • Strong writing and editing skills with attention to tone and audience
  • Experience managing social media accounts and using scheduling tools 
  • Basic knowledge of website management platforms (e.g., WordPress, Squarespace)
  • Proficiency in graphic design tools such as Canva, Adobe Spark, or Adobe Creative Suite a plus
  • Comfortable working in a faith-based setting and communicating the values of the church and preschool
  • Self-motivated, organized, and able to manage time independently
