Fall 2025: Start 1 Spark - Marketing Graphic Designer Intern

Position: Marketing Graphic Designer 

Reports to: Amber Lancaster, Executive Director

Position Summary: The Marketing Graphic Designer will create graphics to brand Start 1 Spark’s various marketing campaigns. The position will support the Executive Director in developing images to accompany volunteer recruitment, donor communication, and event campaigns. Graphics will be used on social media platforms, email, flyers, and/or other print materials. The Marketing Graphic Designer will utilize platforms such as Canva and Google workspace to meet project goals and deadlines. The ideal candidate for this role must be organized, creative, and a passionate learner who is excited to grow Start 1 Spark’s audience.

Start 1 Spark’s mission is to eliminate the financial costs of school extracurriculars so all students can participate in their school community. Utilizing multiple platforms, the Marketing Graphic Designer will be a valuable team member helping to expand a local non-profit. This is an exciting opportunity for the Marketing Graphic Designer to gain real world experience applying learned communication skills.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Generate original images that build meaningful connections and encourages community members to take action
  • Ensure all images meet Start 1 Spark’s branding guidelines
  • Able to create different types and sizes of images and graphics to meet Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn requirements as well as email and print requirements
  • Coordinate with the Executive Director and/or photographer pictures that may be required for upcoming campaigns in a timely manner
  • Brainstorm with the Marketing Campaign Writer, Creative Writer, and others on images that reflect the campaign objectives and inspire the audience to engage with Start 1 Spark

Requirements:

  • Demonstrate creativity and consistency
  • Must be detail-oriented, dependable, and meet all established deadlines
  • Work in a collaborative environment and share ideas and critiques respectfully
  • Respect and maintain the confidentiality of Start 1 Spark’s donors and partner school students and staff

Time Commitment: 4-8 hours per month
