Fall 2025: RVA Gift Finder - Marketing & Social Media Intern

Marketing & Social Media Intern, Fall 2025

I have newly launched a startup focused on breaking down barriers to better, more stress-free gifting for busy professionals and others who want to give meaningful gifts, but feel stuck. I am in the early stages of product development, which means my team is lean, fast-moving, and deeply committed to understanding and serving our potential customers. This internship offers a unique opportunity to work closely with the founder and gain hands-on experience across multiple areas of business and marketing.

The Marketing Intern will support the Founder in conducting customer discovery, data analysis, and strategy development. Specific responsibilities include:

  • Assisting with and conducting customer discovery interviews and research
  • Synthesizing qualitative and quantitative findings into actionable insights
  • Helping to shape early-stage marketing strategies based on customer feedback and data
  • Supporting outreach efforts, including developing messaging and executing social content and campaigns
  • Participating in team meetings, brainstorming sessions, and reporting progress to the founder
  • Taking ownership of solo tasks and maintaining accountability to project timelines

This role is ideal for someone who is curious, proactive, and excited to contribute to a growing business from the ground up.

  • Comfortable initiating conversations with new people and conducting interviews
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • An analytical mindset and familiarity with tools such as spreadsheets, Google Forms, or other survey platforms
  • Experience with marketing and/or content creation on Instagram
  • Eagerness to learn, take initiative, and contribute ideas in a collaborative setting

Internship Benefits

This internship provides exposure to real-world startup operations and offers hands-on experience in the areas outlined in this job description. The Marketing Intern will leave with tangible experience and insights that are difficult to gain in traditional roles, especially in understanding the early stages of business building.
