Fall 2025: McGuireWoods Consulting LLC - Public Affairs/PR/Strategy Intern(PAID)
McGuireWoods Consulting is seeking an intern for its downtown Richmond, VA office.
McGuireWoods Consulting offers internship opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students majoring in government, political science, law, journalism, public relations, communications, or related fields.
Our internships expose students to multiple facets of the public affairs arena through hands-on learning that may include client projects, attending and monitoring public and private meetings, supporting events, and conducting in-depth research for a wide variety of industries.
The chosen candidate for this position will work directly with the Richmond office staff, primarily with our communications and advocacy teams. Responsibilities may include:
- Completing web-based research projects
- Assisting with copy and content development for a wide variety of digital and physical publications
- Attending and summarizing public and client meetings and events
- Supporting the management of internal or external events
This internship is offered for the Fall 2025 semester, with the possibility of extension based on performance.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Strong interest in public affairs, government, politics, grassroots, research, digital strategy, or public relations
- Ability to summarize complex issues into clear, concise content for staff and clients
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office or similar platforms
- Commitment to integrity and maintaining strict confidentiality for all assignments
- Ability to work collaboratively with individuals at all levels of the firm
- Experience with Adobe InDesign or other design software (preferred)
PAY: This is a paid internship at a rate of $18/hour.
SCHEDULE: Preferred availability is 12-24 hours per week, spread across 2-3 days. Final hours and schedule will be determined with the selected candidate.
TRANSPORTATION: The chosen candidate must have access to reliable transportation. McGuireWoods Consulting does not provide housing, transportation, parking or relocation costs.
