The VCU Military Student Services Office processes VA Education benefits for over 3000 students per semester and provides social and service event programming to support our military affiliated community and help them build a connection to the University. Locate in Grace E Harris Hall, 3rd Floor, Rm 3122, our office is open Monday – Friday, 8AM – 5PM
The Media/Communications Intern position is critical for the MSS Office in order to:
- Update our student populations on important deadlines for filing for the benefits as well as changes in VA benefits and policy
- Provide students with opportunities to connect and engage by participating in programming sponsored by the MSS Office
- Notify students of scholarship or job opportunities uniquely tailored to our Veteran population
- Create training and information materials for our prospective students utilizing social media platforms and recorded messaging
- Make recurring updates to existing communication platforms such as YouTube, Facebook, Instagram and RamsConnect
- Do data analysis to determine the most successful ways to communicate with our students
Intern should be familiar with computers, shooting video, writing text/press releases, publishing newsletters online and working in a team environment. This is a hybrid position with expected weekly office hours.
