Fall 2026: @astoldbysly - Creative Media Intern (Stipend)
@astoldbysly is an Atlanta-based media brand built at the intersection of nostalgia and Black cultural storytelling — inspired by the early-2000s spirit of shows like As Told By Ginger and grounded in real journalism credentials. Founded by Shanique Yates, a Television Critics Association member and NPR/Broccoli City Fest "Breakthrough Woman in Music & Media" honoree, the brand spans a weekly broadcast segment (Black Culture in Motion on aspireTV), a growing Substack newsletter, and an active presence across Instagram, TikTok, X, and YouTube. We tell stories about Black excellence in entertainment, sports, and culture — and we're building out a lean, creative team to help us do it well.
Expected Duties
- Edit short-form video content (Reels, TikToks, YouTube Shorts) from raw footage into polished, on-brand posts
- Cut and package weekly Black Culture in Motion segment content and behind-the-scenes clips
- Add captions, graphics, and sound design consistent with brand style
- Organize and archive raw footage and finished assets
- (Optional, based on interest) Assist with drafting newsletter content and short written pieces
- (Optional, based on interest) Support light research or copy for brand partnership and pitch materials
