About us:
Urban Views Weekly celebrates and explores the lives, work, achievements, and leisure
accomplishments of the African American community of Richmond, Virginia, and the
surrounding region. We strive to raise the profiles of the many people who make Richmond a
vibrant community. Urban Views publishes a print product each week and is distributed
throughout the Greater Richmond area. Our website features extended content and we are
working to grow our Social Media engagement.
The Photojournalist will capture professional quality photographs and video and will share
them along with compelling stories about day-to-day life, celebrations and unique
milestones occurring in the African American community.
We are looking for a self-motivated individual who is a great photographer and storyteller.
Responsibilities:
• Capture professional quality photos and video
• Write weekly blog post sharing compelling stories of life
• Utilize social media to promote and share photos and stories (Facebook, Twitter,
Instagram)
• Work remotely with weekly check-in meetings (in-person and/or video)
Qualifications:
• Strong photography skills and willing to use own equipment
• Strong written communication skills
• Clear, concise and compelling storytelling skills
• Ability to work both independently and in a team setting
• Great people skills, positive attitude, initiative, enthusiasm and a lover of life
Compensation:
Unpaid. Able to earn course credit hours consistent with college’s standards.
