Southside Community Development and Housing Corporation (SCDHC) is the oldest, historically Black-led, affordable housing non-profit in Central Virginia. Our mission is to build viable, thriving and sustainable communities through affordable housing development and services that help low- to moderate-income Black and Brown communities build their wealth. SCHDC provides HUD-approved housing counseling services and Spanish-bilingual Financial Opportunity Center services that include employment placement and coaching services, credit and budget counseling, and benefits coaching.
Public Relations Social Media Manager Internship Job Responsibilities
- Brainstorm design and execution of social media campaigns aligned with agency marketing strategy, social media policy and style guides
- Promote agency on various social media and website (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube) by creating weekly and monthly calendars and content
- Create and distribute content such as articles, infographics, photos, and videos across digital media
- Create basic website content and update website to increase engagement
- Analyze social media engagement to identify high-performing ideas and campaigns for scalability; assist in generating analytics reporting to aid in decision-making
- Monitor various social media platforms and grow social following across all relevant segments by promoting agency to beneficiaries and donors
- This role is supervised by the Fund Development Officer
Qualified applicants should possess:
- Experience with social media marketing principles and platforms - must provide portfolio or links to publications
- Interest in racial equity work and poverty alleviation in a mission-driven nonprofit
- Strong written communication skills and experience with online engagement and analytics
- Ability to work independently and contribute to a professional nonprofit team
- Knowledge of Constant Contact, Squarespace, Canva or similar programs
- Design, as well as photo and video editing experience are a plus
- Ability to follow agency policies, guidelines and confidentiality requirements
- Flexibility to research and engage with special projects of interest
- Proficiency in Spanish a plus
This role is open to a junior or senior and is available year-round. SCDHC offers a stipend based on the length of the internship, and hours are flexible with a negotiable hybrid combination of in-person and remote work. Requirement for orientation at our offices located just 5 minutes from VCU’s campus with a business casual atmosphere. SCDHC can accommodate 1 credit (minimum 50 total hours), 2 credit (minimum 100 total hours), and 3 credit (minimum 150 total hours) internships.
