SIR, a 68-year-old market research and strategic consulting firm located in Richmond, VA, seeks candidates for communications and project management paid internship.


SIR is seeking a highly motivated individual with interest and some experience in communications, copy development and project management. This position will contribute to supporting SIR communications consulting projects, managing project flow, conducting interviews, crafting native copy and editing existing copy for select client-facing assignments. 

Job description

The communications internship allows individuals to participate in creating content for websites, online newsletters, social media platforms, media inquiries and reports and support the progression of client projects.

Responsibilities include: 

  • Input and monitoring of project schedules and details
  • Supporting corporate communications and public relations client-related projects
  • Conducting and transcribing interviews
  • Writing and fact-checking content
  • Copy editing and proofreading
  • Providing support on various administrative tasks and duties as needed


  • Strong writing and interpersonal communications skills
  • Demonstrated writing and proofreading skills
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office and Adobe Suite
  • Strong Internet research skills
  • Ability to meet deadlines
  • Ability to work effectively as a part of a team
  • Ability to independently meet weekly and monthly deadlines
  • Ability to work effectively as a part of a team


Approximately 20 hours per week. The position lasts for 18 weeks, with the option for renewal.


$15 per hour


Interns will develop professional and interpersonal skills from working in a team environment serving leading regional, statewide and national organizations.
