Summer 2019: Renew Richmond - Marketing & PR Intern

Renew Richmond is looking for an intelligent, energetic, and driven Marketing and Public Relations intern during the Spring and/or Summer of 2018. Renew Richmond is launching an exciting rebranding effort starting this summer and we seek applicants who are dedicated to promoting equity and community activation through agriculture, STEM, food justice, and environmental sustainability.

Renew Richmond was established as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization in 2009 to cultivate healthier, more self-empowered communities through agriculture and nutrition education. Renew operates four (4) main programs: produce distribution, school gardens, curriculum delivery, and youth diversion. Today, we work with several Richmond schools to promote food access and education in agriculture, environmental sustainability, and STEM. We envision a future where healthy food, good health and economic opportunity are accessible to all.

Position Description:
A minimum of 10 hours a week is required. This role requires knowledge of photography, advertising, and graphic design. Working with assigned staff, the intern’s primary responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

o Take quality, high resolution photography throughout summer for use in future portfolio,
website, and social media accounts
o Design portfolio for digital and print platforms
o Assist in creation of branding, marketing and advertising strategy for organization
o Create social media content strategy/calendar and monitor social channels

o Graphics generation and creative input
o Assist with press and media relations

• An interest issues surrounding equity, justice, and community empowerment
• A passion for marketing, advertising, and public relations
• Strong oral and written communications skills
• Proficiency or knowledge of social media marketing tools and platforms
• Ability to collaborate in various team structures, as well as work independently
• A strong work ethic, a focus on community trust-building, and a positive attitude
