Summer 2019: Project Yellow Light - Communications Intern

WHAT it is.
Project Yellow Light, Hunter Garner Scholarship is a non-profit built on a simple concept, making a big difference to stop distracted driving.

Car crashes are the number one killer of teens and young adults in the U.S. PYL is a program designed to reverse those numbers and save lives. Applicants to the scholarship create 30 or 60 videos, billboard designs or radio spots to convince their peers to be careful when they first start driving. And starting this year, we have a separate contest for billboard design. No essay. Everything online. The contest is open to all fulltime high school juniors & seniors and college students in the U.S.

It’s all about giving the youth ownership of this critically important message; and allowing them to talk about it in a way that will attract and appeal to each other.

Project Yellow Light is a national scholarship program reaching thousands of youth, in partnership with:

-iHeartRadio
-Mazda & Mazda Motorsports (Indy race car division)
-National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA)
-National Organizations for Youth Safety (NOYS)
-U-Haul

We’ve attracted the attention of some notable people; our judges and advocates include: 
-Jeff Goodby (Co-founder and Co-Chairman, Goodby, Silverstein & Partners)
-Wendy Clark (CEO & President of DDB; past-global head of marketing for Coca-Cola) 
-Kweku Mandela (global activist & film producer) 
-Aloe Blacc (award winning recording artist)
-Pam El (Chief Marketing Officer of the NBA)

What we need.
Some social savvy people to drum up attention and momentum on a social platform as we go into our fourth year. 
We need rich content and frequent postings to the following platforms:
-FB
-Twitter
-Instagram
-YouTube

We’re open to new and exciting ideas to connect with our target –ages 16-24 – as well as finding ways to bring growth and recognition to our brand. And we want someone who will be passionate about our cause.

Expected duties. 
We need someone who is a good writer/researcher and able to regularly post on Twitter, Instagram & Tumblr.
