Summer 2018: University of Richmond - Athletics Department Marketing Intern

Athletics department marketing interns will be responsible for helping with the day to day tasks within the marketing office, the execution of marketing and promotional plans, enhancing the brand of the Richmond Spiders in the community, and helping to create the best fan experience possible during games.

 

Description of Role:

  • Research new ideas and promotions that can be implemented at Spider sporting events
  • Attend and research community events to increase awareness of our brand and promote upcoming games, as well as the Spiderlings Kids Club
  • Assist in marketing, promotional planning and execution of Football, Men’s Basketball and Women’s Basketball games, as well as occasional Olympic Sports. This includes attending all revenue generating sporting events (Football, Men’s Basketball, Women’s Basketball)
  • Learn the Paciolan ticketing system to input ticket orders
  • Help create and implement Spiderlings Kids Club events
  • Answer phones to assist customers purchasing tickets
  • Assist the groups manager in obtaining new group leads and contacts
  • Be a liaison to the student body by helping to promote games around campus by hanging flyers, attending events to pump up students for upcoming games and help keep a pulse on the happenings around campus that athletics could be part of
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned

 

Qualifications:

  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Self-starter with initiative and creativity
  • Ability to work well with staff, students and fans
  • Works well under pressure
  • Great customer service

 

This position requires working nights and weekends, as well as some holidays.
