Description of Organization:
BuildBlack is a nonprofit organization that focuses on bridging the economic prosperity gap. We offer minority professionals an opportunity to learn about and overcome the challenges that are holding them back from financial freedom.
Marketing/Communications Interm:
Purpose: Reporting to the founder of BuildBlack, the Marketing/Communications Intern will gain meaningful experience by assisting with the promotional efforts of the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
Creating and curating content for BuildBlack's social media platforms
Assisting the Founder and Membership & Volunteer Development Intern in the creation of a formal membership program
Assisting in planning and execution of events
Assisting with the creation and implementation of an email marketing strategy
Building and maintaining relationships with current and potential partners
Creating and distributing press releases
Writing blogs to be posted on our website
Bringing innovative and effective communication strategies to organization
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Completed or working toward a college degree, preferably in a related field (e.g. Public Relations, Marketing, Advertising)
Passion for social and economic justice
Good written and oral communication skills
Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks
Flexibility and the ability to work independently
Strong understanding of various social media platforms
