VCU Libraries seeks a strong writer and creative thinker as a Public Relations Intern in the Office of Communications and Public Relations. Duties will include substantive writing, editing, copy editing, interviewing, fact-checking for publishing in print and digital forms, including social media platforms. VCU Libraries has multiple presences on Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr and Instagram. The candidate will contribute to varied platforms including blogs and the library’s news center. The position offers lots of room for creativity and the intern will leave the position with a strong clip file of diverse proven work. Additional duties will be assigned, depending on the intern’s skill set and interests.
Ability to juggle multiple assignments and complete them at a fast pace with minimal supervision.
Mass communications students preferred.
Training or classes in feature writing and copyediting.
Proven knowledge of AP Style and basic newswriting skills.
Familiarity with basic software and social media platforms.

This is a part-time, year-round position. Applicants available to work summer and interested in continuing into the fall semester will receive preference.
