Summer 2017: Richmond International Film Festival - Various Positions (Deadline May 2)

The Richmond International Film Festival (RIFF) is an international 6-day film and music festival held in Richmond, VA. Now one of the largest international competitive festivals in the mid-Atlantic, RIFF brings 120 film screenings and filmmakers to RVA for the premiere of their film, as well as over 50 musicians from around the world.  The festival also includes writing & industry panels, filmmaker Q&As, the FLOW Creative Conference, industry mixers, red carpet awards, and more, all of which bring the spirit of Hollywood to the historic Byrd Theatre and Bowtie Movieland. With the aim of promoting both established filmmakers and discovering up-and-coming talent, the festival works to promote its participating filmmakers and writers through various media outlets and production partners.  RIFF is an exciting collaborative platform for writers and filmmakers of all backgrounds as it brings great talent together, and helps launch careers.  

RIFF has 3 part time internship positions available. This position is ideal for those looking to develop foundational skills as a filmmaker, development executive, programmer, festival organizer, producer, writer, publicist, or entry level position in the industry. The internship is unpaid, but for those that excel there may be opportunities to grow with the company.

Qualifications: Candidate should have some educational or training background in film, screenwriting, communications, and/or the business of film or music promotion. He or she should be well organized, dependable, and eager to learn the ins and outs of the industry.  

Position: Part-time. Internship can be used for credit hours at participating schools and Universities or without credit depending on the desires of the respective student.  

Responsibilities: Assist in light administrative tasks and the coordination of festival planning, marketing, publicity, and event production. Interns will get close up, behind the scenes experience at what it takes to run an international film and music festival.

Hours: 12-15 hour commitment per week. Must reside in the greater Richmond area.

Start Date:  Interviews begin early May, and the official start date is May 15th.  

Length of position: Approximately 10 wks.  Future renewal based on merit.
