Spring 2022: VCU - The Center for Teaching and Learning Excellence (CTLE) - Branding & Digital Marketing Intern

The Center for Teaching and Learning Excellence (CTLE) within the VCU Office of the Provost is looking for social media content, branding, and marketing strategy interns to join our team!

This is an unpaid internship. Course credit can be given to those needing to fulfill program internship requirements. Internship is fully virtual, work from home!

What is CTLE?

The CTLE and Faculty Success team at VCU promotes and enhances teaching effectiveness and student learning through faculty-centered development opportunities. We also support faculty success with a well-rounded 360-degree view of all things faculty must do to thrive throughout their careers. This full view of faculty success includes supporting faculty in teaching, scholarship, writing, performance and creative arts, career goal planning, leadership development, mentoring, balance and well-being, and so much more.


  • Understand the overall concept of CTLE, including brand identity, audience types, goals, and various aspects of programs 
  • Create, source, and strategize social media content for Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc.
  • Monitor social media for trending topics to utilize on all social media channels
  • Perform analysis of marketing data
  • Design graphics and/or illustrations (e.g., use in social media, website, marketing materials)
  • Perform SEO functions to include keyword analysis
  • Assist in creating marketing kits for presentation or sharing with VCU units and external audiences
  • Attend virtual team meetings as needed


  • Undergraduate student (sophomore/junior/senior) or graduate student majoring in Communications, Public Relations, Graphic Design, Art, Marketing, or Advertising
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with attention to detail
  • Extensive knowledge of various social media platforms
  • Driven and hard working
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision; time management skills; ability to meet deadlines
  • Google Drive and Google Suite experience
  • 1+ years of social media management experience or equivalent coursework
  • Experience creating graphics and video with Adobe Premiere/Photoshop/InDesign and/or Adobe Spark and Canva
  • Eye for visual and engaging storytelling
