Spring 2019: Virginia Asian Chamber of Commerce - Advertising/Journalism/PR Intern

The statewide Virginia Asian Chamber of Commerce – www.aabac.org - at Downtown Richmond location office seeks qualified students interested in obtaining a unique hands-on professional development internship experience for students majored in communications and public relations. Mentoring and coaching will be a large part of the internship program.

Our internship programs expose students to different facets of the communications- business and public affairs arena through experiential learning that includes working on client projects, organizing business and economic and community development events, and research opportunities such as:

 

  • communications- writing
  • social media management
  • public relations projects
  • event management
  • graphic design-illustration                                                                                                             

 

Worksite location:   downtown richmond area at the lobby of downtown richmond suntrust bank headquarters- 919 east main st, richmond,  on vcu bus line. Virtual assignment also available

Internship schedule : is flexible allowing interns to complete projects on site or off site .  Mentoring will be part of the internship. 6-8 hours weekly.

Corporate mentorship: we have a corporate agreement working with local companies offering mentorship to all interns.

# of positions:  2-4 positions- schedule: between 10 and 5 pm - monday to friday and week end hours for those interesred in week end projects. the location is conveniently located downtown richmond between 9th and east main street on VCU Bus Line. This is a  non paid internship for credit or non credit.

Academic credit:  academic credit can be arranged. This intense internship as earned undergraduate and graduate students for academic credits at the 3.00 or 4.00 credit level classes, or direct study.

Intern task description:    tasks will be customized for each student based on students major and interest-  majority of tasks are professional level- some easy website maintenance (ex: wordpress ) -  marketing-social media- community relations- economic development research and assistance- event management- writing- with  supervisor ‘s guidance and coaching. Graphic design experience an interest a plus. Domestic and international business projects.

Qualifications:

we accept sophomore level and up - graduate and undergraduate s.  must bring your lap top.
