About VCUarts Music
The VCUarts Department of Music is housed within VCU’s nationally recognized School of the Arts. Music students pursue studies as music educators, instrumental soloists, opera singers, chamber musicians and more. The department presents more than 200 concerts and recitals each year, ranging from student recitals and ensemble concerts to performances by world-renowned artists.
Intern Responsibilities
The Social Media Intern will assist in developing and implementing the Music Department’s communications strategy through the use of social media and web content. The intern will plan and develop content for the purpose of promoting the department’s student recruitment efforts, as well as concert and event promotion.
- Create accessible content for department website and social media platforms
- Assist with the creation and development of articles, newsletters, and other communications
- Create and maintain an editorial calendar for scheduling content across platforms
Intern Qualifications
- Junior or Senior standing, with previous coursework on social media
- Strong writing skills and creative flair
- Familiarity with Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Mailchimp, Canva
- Ability to multi-task and adhere to deadlines
- Personal interest in music or performing arts
Semester/Compensation
Spring 2019 - for credit only (1-3 credits).
