Spring 2019: Richmond Night Market - Marketing Intern

Job Summary:


The Marketing Intern is a part-time position that assists with the marketing, production and promotion of The Richmond Night Market featured 2nd Saturdays from 5 - 10pm at the 17th Street Market. This 20 hour/month position assists with the planning, promotions, and programming of the Richmond Night Market and provides all administrative functions to ensure a successful and vibrant market. Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Assist the Founders of the Richmond Night Market with researching, application, and administration tasks

  • Assist with press release distribution

  • Research regional artists to target and invite to participate in the Richmond Night Market

  • Assist with website updates

  • Create content for social media

  • Create social media calendar

  • Manage social media platforms (IG, FB, Twitter)

  • Maintain vendor relationships and vendor communications

  • Assist with vendor selection and space assignment

  • Assist with program

  • Manage consistent communications with current vendors.

  • Ensure that vendors provide adequate notification of attendance and manage daily vendor process.

  • Assist customers and vendors as needed, addressing complaints/issues during market operation.

  • Answer inquiries regarding the market.

  • Clear and organized work habits supported by excellent interpersonal skills are preferred.  

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Enthusiastic advocate of local tourism, food, arts & culture

  • Skill in program development and management

  • Good computer skills, including excel, word, Constant Contact

(approximately 20 - 25 hours per month March 2019 through December 2019)


Physical Demands:


  • Lifting 40 lbs. maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 20 lbs.

  • Frequent standing and walking

  • Occasional driving

  • Frequent bending, twisting and reaching

  • Occasional squatting and climbing

  • Ability to withstand noise changes in the work environment

  • Ability to collect and analyze data about the market

  • Educational requirement: minimum high school degree, preferred college degree

  • Ability to work Saturdays during the market season
