Spring 2018: VCU Safety & Risk Management - Technical Writing/Administrative Professional Intern

Safety and Risk Management (SRM) Partners with the VCU community to promote and facilitate a positive, campus wide attitude of safety excellence and environmental stewardship to protect university assets and reduce risks.
 
Position Descriptions: SRM is seeking an intern for the Spring of 2018. Interns need to be enthusiastic, motivated, selfstarters. Candidates must be a sophomore, junior, or senior in a VCU program. All majors will be considered, however, ideal candidates will have background in English, a Science, or Business.
 
Responsibilities • Plan, develop, organize and edit operational procedures and manuals. • Meet with internal and external clients to gather usability feedback. • Analyze documents to maintain branding and continuity of style. • Participate in assessing the development of a social media strategy. • Ensure all documentation meets web content accessibility guidelines. • Records management • Assist in the development and execution of other administrative technology-based tools.
 
The successful candidate should have the following skills: • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment. • Ability to work professionally with students, staff, faculty, and clients of the university. • Ability to successfully meet deadlines. • Ability to work as part of a team, while also being able to complete some tasks autonomously. • Proficiency with computers. Familiarity with basic computer software products, and ability to easily learn new software products.
