Location Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children (WIC) Virginia Department of Health, Division of Community Nutrition (Richmond, VA)
Position Description: The WIC Marketing and Communications Intern will assist in creating and disseminating tailored food guides for two special projects.
Accountabilities Assist to identify, plan, and implement new communications, marketing, and promotional campaign strategies for WIC related special project food lists/guides Attend WIC team and other meetings as needed Answer marketing related questions as requested Attend trainings in order to gain a better understanding of WIC and strategic partners Learning Components Customer Service skills Data collection and analysis skills State government engagement skills Project management skills
Qualifications Marketing savvy, creativity and forward thinking Firm grasp of available social media tools and platforms Written and verbal communication skills Proficiency with Microsoft Office Excellent customer service skills Ability to work well independently, and within a team Dependability and flexibility Ability to handle confidential information with discretion Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse staff and participant population Organization and attention to detail Graphic design and basic HTML knowledge is helpful but not required Fluency in Spanish a plus but not required

Supervision Reports to Division of Community Nutrition’s Community Outreach Coordinator
Time Commitment 10-20 hours/week Spring Semester (January 2017 – April 2017) possible extension to summer if work needs present.
