Summary We are looking for a highly motivated individual with an interest in graphic design, marketing and public affairs for a paid graphic and media design internship at the Virginia Commonwealth University School of Social Work, located in Richmond, Virginia. The intern will contribute to the production of the school’s print and digital media.

Job description The graphic and media design internship allows individuals to participate in the creation of content for the school’s website, online newsletter, social media, digital signage as well as the production of a variety audience-specific print material.

Responsibilities include:  Create designs, concepts and sample layouts based on knowledge of layout principles and esthetic design concepts  Determine size and arrangement of illustrative material and copy and select font style and type  Mark up, paste and assemble final layouts to prepare layouts for press  Review final layouts and suggest improvements as needed  Confer with the Director of Communications to discuss and determine layout design  Work closely with the editorial intern

Qualifications  Virginia Commonwealth University student  Strong Internet research skills  Ability to meet deadlines  Ability to work effectively as a part of a team  Strong written and oral communication skills  Proficient knowledge of design software, including the Adobe suite  Knowledge of social media  Ability to package artwork for press

Hours and compensation Up to 20 hours per week at $15.00 per hour. This position ends June 30, 2017.
