Spring 2017: VCU Innovation Economy - Staff Writer/Editorial Intern (PAID)

Feb 1, 2017

Posted in: Internships & scholarships, Journalism internships

VCU Innovation Economy, charged with ensuring the VCU community has access to innovative and entrepreneurial pathways that support regional economic development, cultural vitality and community well-being, is seeking a paid intern to join our small, dynamic team.  Read through the qualifications below to see if you’re up for the gig.

Youre a great writer.

This is a given, and while modest, you know you’re darn good at it. You’ve likely contributed to publications (print or digital), produced killer copy, and have played a role in developing editorial strategy.

Youre into start-ups.

This is preferable, but not a must. However, if you’re going to be covering VCU startups, alumni entrepreneurs, innovative technologies, and related university news, it’d make sense you geek out over this as much as we do.

Youre a self starter no hand holding here!

You care about two things: producing quality work and meeting deadlines. Check those boxes and you’ll have all the autonomy you need. Well to a degree that is….

You will:

    •       Write and produce weekly articles pertaining to the aforementioned topics (entrepreneurship, VCU startups, etc…)

    •       Assist in developing the editorial strategy for the entrepreneurship.vcu.edu website.

    •       Work closely with management to ensure quality copy across the site and related social media channels.

How To Apply:

Please submit a resume and three published writing samples (links will suffice as well) to Dominic Costanzo at costanzodr@vcu.edu
