Social Media/ Marketing Internship Position Description

Description: The intern will observe and assist with various projects assigned by the Owner. General responsibilities may include:

  • Assisting with the creation of hard and soft copy files
  • Boosting posts on social media
  • Designing and writing copy for posts to Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Pinterest, and Twitter
  • Tracking responses and engagement on all social media platforms
  • Writing and editing blog posts
  • Researching industry trends
  • Researching promotional materials, contacting vendors, and making suggestions for purchase
  • Updating the marketing plan and communications calendar

Intern will gain and/or improve upon their:

  • General communication and customer service skills
  • Understanding the special events, hospitality, and service industry
  • Understanding of entrepreneurship and managing a company
  • Knowledge of marketing and advertising for a start-up company
  • Skills in development of a business communications calendar, social media posting, and promotions
  • Ability to work in a dynamic environment and solve problems creatively


  • Strong interpersonal, verbal (including telephone) and written communication skills
  • Basic computer processing skills including Microsoft Office, the internet, and various social media platforms
  • Basic graphic design skills including functional knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite
  • Interest in Special Events and/or Hospitality Industry
  • College coursework or comparable work experience preferred
  • Ability to stand for more than four hours at a time
  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds
