Spring & Summer 2018: The Regeneration - Fundraising & Marketing Interns

The Regeneration Magazine is looking for interns for the Spring and Summer semester in assisting the fundraising and marketing department in soliciting donations, funding, and sponsorships for the Magazine’s publication, venue development, and ancillary services. This intern will also assist with product sales and marketing.

The Development Department of The Regeneration Magazine creates and implements the organization's fundraising efforts, and is currently in hyper-brainstorming mode as we work to develop and implement a growth strategy. As an intern you will be working directly with the head of operations, helping with events, foundations, membership and major donors.

The Regeneration is more than just a magazine, it's a vision for a brighter and more interconnected future, where business can spearhead change and people can work together to regenerate the planet, rather than soil it.

This internship positions will provide someone with substantial experience in nonprofit and corporate development and management, grant writing, events planning, researching donor prospects, solicitation strategizing, in addition to gaining valuable office experience working in one of the nation's most progressive environmental regeneration businesses.

Duties include, but are not limited to the following. Each intern will be encouraged to take a leadership role in spearheading their own project within the objectives of the development department, depending on one's experience and hours of availability.

Responsibilities Foundations:

  • Research new foundations to apply for funding

  • Conduct external research on The Regeneration Magazine's key program priorities to use

    in writing proposals

  • Help with copy editing of proposals and report

  • Help in writing minor proposals and reports


  • Research and develop events in new fundraising markets

  • Research event venues and caterers, and help to get quotes

  • Depending on availability, provide assistant at key high profile even

  • Depending on experience, help design invitations and event promotion

    Membership / Major Donors:

  • Help in researching potential donors

  • Help in conducting in depth researching into new fundraising markets

  • Provide support in sending mailings and invitations, both digitally and by print

  • Help provide current donors and members with information requests

  • Help with maintaining database records

  • Each internship position will also have its share of "busy" work including data entry


    • Research brick-and-mortar stores and online outlets that would be a good fit for the magazine

    • Call and email potential vendors

    • Close sales


    • Assist in implementation (and further development) of social media marketing plan

    • Assist with e-marketing campaigns, including our weekly newsletter Qualifications

      Each intern will be expected to work 15-20 hours per week (this is flexible), sometime between the hours of 10:00am–6:00pm, Monday through Friday in our Richmond office located in the neighborhood of Manchester. Interns must work at least three days per week, ideally on Monday, Friday, and at least one day in between.

      We are seeking motivated and responsible college students or young professionals looking to gain experience working with am environmental business. Prior interning experience is not a requirement, but we do require you to have a strong work ethic and willingness to learn. A candidate should have an interest in The Regeneration Magazine's mission to change the way we think about and work to solve environmental crises. A potential intern should be comfortable working independently but also working with a team and a supervisor.


      This is a volunteer unpaid internship. We encourage you to use this internship to gain course credit and to seek out "work-study" grants with your college, if that is an option.
