On June 19, 2019, the Virginia Museum of History & Culture will open a new exhibition, Determined: The 400 Year Struggle for Black Equality. This unprecedented exhibition explores the African American experience from the arrival of the first enslaved Africans in English North America in 1619 to the present day tracing the ways in which black people have profoundly shaped the course of American history and the nature of American democracy through their fight for freedom, equality, and justice. Visitors will encounter dozens of personal stories, like those of Virginians James Lafayette, Mary S. Peake, Arthur Ashe, and Missy Elliot, and nearly one hundred artifacts. We are seeking a PR & Media Relations Intern (PR Intern) to assist with outreach efforts and with scheduling and logistics for local and national media outlets leading up to the opening and for the initial months it is on display.

The Chesterfield Food Bank is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in Chesterfield, Virginia. The mission of the Chesterfield Food Bank (CFB) is a simple one: to provide a helping hand to those within our community when they need it most. The CFB provides relief efforts in the form of reliable access to food as well as community programs. The CFB supports a large group of people who would not otherwise qualify for government assistance. These include single mothers working to try to put food on the table, senior citizens surviving solely on social security, veterans on disability, young couples just starting out, and people who have just been laid off from their job.
