Fall 2021: VCU College of Health Professionals - Communications Intern

Virginia Commonwealth University’s College of Health Professions (CHP) is an international
leader in promoting excellence in healthcare services and preparing students to become
skilled professionals. Located in the heart of downtown Richmond on the MCV Campus,

CHP is a diverse establishment built upon a robust history dating back more than 50 years. Several of its programs are consistently ranked in the top five by U.S. News & World Report.

The College is offering a distinct communications internship opportunity for undergraduate Mass Communications majors in their senior year, with first-hand experience in promoting its programs, and raising awareness of the CHP mission through digital and traditional communications channels. Some responsibilities may include social media management, website content planning and internal CHP communications for faculty and staff.

Assignments may include:
· Interviewing CHP faculty, staff and/or students
· Developing news features, press releases or media advisories for distribution
· Creating content for digital and social platforms
· Gathering data on events and other opportunities to post to digital channels
· Seeking ideas to boost followers and engagement on social media channels

Internships are available on the MCV Campus and via a hybrid in-person and remote format for two
or three credit hours.

Interested students should have knowledge of social media, PR and news writing, and have an interest in pursuing a career in broadcast, print journalism or public relations.
