Description of Job:
Serve as strategist of social media efforts at VCU on university-level platforms and assist in strategizing, crafting, and coordinating online communications that support the VCU brand and Quest themes; assist in serving as a frontline manager in interacting with the VCU community on official VCU social media platforms and assist in ensuring university compliance with VCU social media guidelines; Work with brand managers and leaders to explore and identify ways to integrate social media into communications strategies and marketing campaigns.
-Excellent written and verbal communication skills
-Strong technical background with advanced computer skills
-Competence with Microsoft Office
-Competence with Adobe Creative Suite
-Ability to jump from the strategic and creative side of marketing to the analytical side
-Working knowledge of the principles of SEM and SEO
-Ability to work independently and as a member of a team
-Aptitude to develop and maintain strong working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
-Strong story-telling and presentation skills
-Ability to work effectively under deadlines and juggle several assignments simultaneously
-Ability to work in a diverse work environment
-Experience in advertising, communications, marketing, or public relations
-Undergraduate degree in public relations, marketing, communications or journalism from an accredited college or university, or commensurate experience preferred
-Understanding of higher education communications
