Fall 2018: Trinity Lutheran Church - Social Media Intern (PAID)

The church: Trinity Lutheran Church is a member congregation of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod, the second largest Lutheran church body in North America. Our church has two locations, one on North Parham Road in Henrico County, which houses the central office, and one on Ashcake Road in Ashland. The internship: Our church is looking for a social media intern to help develop a social media strategy that promotes the activities of our congregation as well as our concert series as we are expanding our community outreach. You will help to develop a coherent strategy that improves and enhances the church’s social media presence. This will include managing an existing Facebook page as well as creating a new Instagram account. You will also help to develop and execute a content calendar for social media and our website, including producing and publishing written and visual content about church activities, such as our concert series. You will work a total of 100 or 150 hours during the fall semester, depending on whether you want to take two or three internship credits. The internship is paid and will be compensated with up to $1000.

 

The qualifications: We are looking for a highly motivated junior or senior in public relations, advertising or journalism, who wants to get real-life experience working on a nonprofit social media strategy and campaign. Successful candidates will have the following qualifications:

- excellent written and oral communication skills

- strategic knowledge working with Facebook and Instagram

- experience with social media analytics (Google Analytics, Facebook Insights)

- experience with website content management systems

- excellent photography and video skills
