The Richmond International Film & Music Festival (RIFF) is an international 6-day festival held in Richmond, VA. One of the largest international competitive festivals in the mid-Atlantic, RIFF brings more than 120 film premiers to the city plus a variety of film and music industry events and community engagement opportunities to the area. The festival’s mission is developing these industries across the state of Virginia. Festival week includes writing & film/music industry panels, Q&As, live music showcases, the FLOW Creative Conference, the annual red carpet awards, and more, all of which bring the spirit of Hollywood to the Commonwealth.

With the aim of promoting both established award winning international projects and discovering the industry’s up-and-coming talent, RIFF works to promote its participating filmmakers, musicians and writers through various media outlets and production partners throughout the year. RIFF is a vital platform in the development of Richmond and an international, sought out platform for artists that helps launch and further careers.

Available Internships: RIFF has 3 current positions available for the Fall/Winter. The position is ideal for those looking to develop their foundational skills as a filmmaker, musician, development executive, programmer, festival organizer, producer, writer, publicist, or related industry professional. The internship is unpaid and can be used for credit or experience for the qualified individual based upon preference and need. For those that excel there may be opportunities to grow with the company.

Qualifications: Candidate should have some basic educational or training background in film, screenwriting, music, communications/PR, marketing, and/or the business of these industries. He or she should be well organized, dependable, and eager to learn the ins and outs of the industry.

Position: Part-time. Internship can be used for credit hours at participating schools and Universities or without credit depending on the desires of the respective student.

Responsibilities: Assist in administrative tasks and the coordination of festival planning, marketing, publicity, film and music reviews, and event production. Interns will get close up, behind the scenes experience at what it takes to run an international film festival.

Hours, Start Date & Term: 12-15 hour commitment per week. For the current open positions, candidates must reside in the greater Richmond area. Start Date: Mid-to late September. Interviews begin early September.

Length of program approximately 10-12 wks. Future renewal based on merit.
