Q Media is Virginia’s LGBTQ Media Company. We are the only statewide media platform for issues pertaining to Virginia’s LGBTQ and allied communities. Our mission is to promote equality through storytelling. We are a nonpartisan, non-activist and family-friendly company. Founded in 2015, Q Media publishes a quarterly magazine called Q Virginia, hosts community, educational and economic events—including Q Weddings, the statewide LGBTQ wedding show— produces The Q Guidebook (Virginia’s statewide LGBTQ guidebook and business directory) and maintains a robust website and growing social media presence. Soon the company will begin delving deeper into the realm of new media and exploring the world of broadcast media, including podcasts and video production.

Content Creation Fellowship
• Draft compelling stories and blogs for Q Virginia’s print and digital media platforms
o very strong writing and grammar skills are essential
• Conduct interviews with relevant people, businesses and organizations to generate content
• Curate news sites for relevant content that can be crafted into stories and blogs for our company
• Regularly seek out new stories from sources across Virginia, DC and beyond

Sales & Business Development Fellowship*
• Develop sales, content and partnership leads by establishing relationships with businesses and organizations across VA & DC
• Following-up with each lead and documenting all communications and progress into a customer relationship
management software and keeping senior staff apprised of progress
• Maintain comprehensive database of targeted businesses and community organizations
• *This position gives student fellows the opportunity to earn sales commissions when appropriate.

Digital Marketing and Communications Fellowship
• Assist with managing all website content, updating it regularly
• Assist with managing all listings within the digital version of The Q Guidebook
• Assist with developing and implementing social media marketing campaigns
• Work with our Director of Communications and Marketing to design regular e-newsletters with MailChimp, draft
and disseminate press releases, email blasts and newsletters

Visual Arts and Media Fellowship
• Design graphics for use in print and digital media
o knowledge of graphic design software required
• Attend and photograph and/or film company events and/or other events that Q Virginia deems appropriate
• Edit audio and video media for Q Virginia’s digital content
