Position Overview:

Under the supervision of the Executive Director & Development Manager, the intern will obtain firsthand experience and training in the following areas:

Marketing

  • Learn about various forms of media outreach including social media outlets, newsletter articles, press releases, and how to research and identify new media opportunities.
  • Learn about corporate communications.
  • Experience communications with other organizations.

    Event Planning
  • Exposure to signature NKF events including the Kidney Walk, to learn about all aspects of special event management including donation requests and volunteer coordination.
  • Attendance at Walk Committee meetings with the Development Team is recommended as part of the learning experience to understand all aspects of event planning.
  • Interns are encouraged to attend special events.

General:

  • Learn about a non-profit health organization, development and event management.
  • Witness the importance of community relations and contribute on behalf of the National Kidney Foundation.
  • Experience communications with other organizations.
  • Exposure to NKF’s new media campaigns (Facebook, Twitter, etc.)

        Attendance at NKF signature events is recommended as part of the learning experience.

 

Essential Job Functions:

  • Pursuing BS/BA or Master’s Degree.
  • Pursuing a career in a related field and/or within non-profit.
  • Ability to work as a member of a team.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to communicate and interact with others effectively.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as presentation skills.
