Fall 2017: SPORTSWIRE - Broadcast Student

Television Services for Henrico County Public Schools produces numerous programs for Comcast, Verizon FIOS, video streaming and in-house use.

One of those productions is a weekly show called SPORTSWIRE that highlights high school sports in Henrico County. Covering nine different high schools in a variety of sports is an impossible task for our staff, especially when these games are simultaneous. We often hire part-time help to assist in that coverage.

Students would tape and possibly editing games. HCPS would supply the gear and train potential workers. The training would be more than camera operation. We would teach them techniques on how to cover games professionally. The bulk of our staff are broadcast veterans, so even though the audience for this show is limited, the standards are the same as any TV station.

This is a paid position. We would supply gear. We would train and coordinate what games to cover. It could be one or two nights a week. It all depends on the individual.
