the Virginia asian chamber of commerce seeks qualified vcu students interested in obtaining a unique multi-cultural business-marketing and education non profit internship experience with the asian chamber – for students majored in public relations, event planning, arts, advertizing, writing, marketing, and communications. we look for students interested in helping us with projects through our 3 main project types:
- domestic and global community development projects – statewide community outreach-communication skills
- events management - logistics /research
- journalism/public relations/news writing/graphic design/marketing
worksite location: downtown richmond area at the lobby of downtown richmond suntrust bank headquarters- 919 east main st, richmond, on public bus line student can also work part of the week from her-his home office ( flexible work schedule). mentoring will be part of the internship.
# of positions: 3-5 positions- schedule: between 10 and 5 pm - monday to friday in downtown richmond on vcu bus line - 4-5 hrs weekly – non paid internship. virtual and week end project work also available.
academic credit: academic credit can be arranged. this intense internship as earned undergraduate and graduate students for academic credits at the 3.00 or 4.00 credit level classes, or direct study.
intern task description: tasks will be customized for each student based on students major and interest- majority of tasks are professional level- with high emphasis on marketing- website maintenance (using wordpress ) - social media- event management-writing- with supervisor ‘s guidance and coaching.
grapic design knowledge a plus.
qualifications:
sophomore level and up - graduate and undergraduate college students majored in all majors related to liberal arts- communications- journalism- international studies. must have lap tops.

as we have physical offices statwide from northern - southwest virginia to the hampton raods area, we offer students in apprentice in richmond work locatikon a true exposure to statewide business and asian community, large corporations, service agencies, embassies, ngos, governor’s office, virginia legislature, where our graduate interms have successfully obtain employment with upon internship completion.
