Fall 2016: Addison for City Council - Social Media Strategist Intern

The Addison for City Council campaign is looking for a smart, talented, results-oriented Social Media Strategist to join our team.The Social Media Strategist is a core member of the Addison for City Council Leadership Team and is responsible for providing social media leadership and public relations counsel for driving awareness, engagement, and ultimately action within the First District. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES • Manage the implementation of integrated communications activities to meet campaign objectives across multiple audience outreach efforts • Provide strategic communications guidance and support, drawing from best practices across different industries/campaigns and applying specifically to the areas of social media and web content/design • Oversee social media activities, including strategy and content development • Monitor media/social media and advise Leadership Team about developments that will impact the campaign • Advise development of multimedia and traditional materials including videos, marketing collateral, infographics, and publications • Provide social media support for campaign events • Collaborate with the Leadership Team to manage projects and coordinate with staff at all levels to ensure projects are completed in a timely, efficient manner • Support the quality control process (e.g., proofreading, formatting, editing) and ensure that all work performed is error-free • Establish and maintain strong relationships within the community • Focus on expanding audience of social media to reach geographic specific group through messaging, targeted, content, and boosting sponsored content • Maintain timely and thorough understanding and awareness of key campaign issues • Demonstrate an emerging expertise in social marketing, marketing communications and/or integrated marketing • Demonstrate emerging thought leadership and actively seek visibility opportunities to bring positive recognition to Andreas Addison • Perform other duties as needed

QUALIFICATIONS • Bachelors degree in communications, journalism, public relations, marketing, or related field • 1+ years of experience in communications or related field • Strong writing, editing, and interpersonal skills • Demonstrated ability to provide consistent and reliable support, including balancing multiple projects well under tight deadlines • Demonstrated ability to think creatively and critically to advance campaign goals • Proven experience in writing for various audiences, earned media outreach, social media, partnership outreach, materials development, and/or events • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite / Google Docs & Sheets • Proficiency in social analytics tools is a plus
