Robertson School students organize virtual summer camp for hands-on experience in advertising

Students in the Robertson School of Media and Culture at Virginia Commonwealth University are organizing Camp ADventure, a free eight-week virtual summer camp that offers students and recent graduates hands-on experience in the field of advertising during the COVID-19 pandemic. The camp will run from June 1 to July 31 and is open to students and recent graduates from around the country. The deadline to apply is May 22 at 5 p.m.
This eight-week virtual program by the VCU Ad Club gives selected campers the opportunity to work with students and recent grads nationwide to create campaign work, hone in on their passion projects, and be mentored by industry professionals from top agencies like The Martin Agency, MullenLowe, Disney, and Google.

Jennifer Costello, Head of Strategy, TBWA/Chiat Day
Melissa Cabral, Head of Strategy, The Many
Mary Toves, Creative Director, Disney
NiRey Reynolds, Education Manager, The One Club for Creativity
Everett Ching, Freelance Creative Director (with work on brands like Peloton, Adidas, Google Chrome)
Campers will be assigned an agency role and placed in a "bunk" where they will work together to solve a creative brief and develop a campaign. Campers may also opt to work on a passion project and will be grouped with those who have similar interests. Camp ADventure will conclude with all teams submitting their work to be judged by a panel.

The camp already has students enrolled from universities from around the country, such as Boston University, the University of Miami and Syracuse University. Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis until May 22 at 5 p.m. Professionals, who would like to mentor students, should sign up here.
