The Robertson School family mourns the sudden passing of Adjunct Professor William “Bryan” DeVasher.

“Professor DeVasher was a very important and highly valued member of the Robertson School, teaching as an adjunct professor here for more than six years,” said Robertson School Director Dr. Hong Cheng. “He was known to both students and faculty/staff colleagues for his kindness, good humor and tremendous knowledge of print journalism.”

DeVasher, who died on Tuesday at age 54, was most recently the managing editor of WYDaily (Williamsburg Yorktown Daily) newspaper and previously worked at the Richmond Times-Dispatch. At the Robertson School he taught every student in the digital journalism sequence over the last several years as the instructor of the School’s copy editing course.

The Robertson School community’s thoughts are with Bryan DeVasher's wife and children.
