The Robertson School will co-sponsor this year's International Business Forum with VCU's School of Business on Wednesday, Oct. 24, 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. in the VCU Student Commons Ballroom (907 Floyd Ave). The title of the forum is "The Global Influence of Social Media on Business, Politics and Culture: The Good, The Bad and The Ugly."
The forum will feature four social media experts – one from England (John Worthington – representing international business), one from the Washington D.C. (Emerson Brooking – representing the political/cultural arena), and two from academics/local business (Mohan “Butch” Sarma and Robertson School adjunct professor and alumna Christina Dick).

The experts will explore how social media (e.g., Baidu Tieba, Facebook, Google+, Instagram, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Snapchat, Tumblr, Twitter, Viber, VK, WeChat, Weibo, WhatsApp, Wikia, and the Internet in general) with billions of registered users has come to be a powerful tool for the good (wealth creative, social justice), for the bad (cyber/con-artists, viral infections) and for the ugly (fabricated news, thought police, political manipulation).

The forum, which is sponsored by Universal Corporation, is free and open to all. A reception will follow the forum at VCU School of Business, Snead Hall (301 West Main Street), from 5:30 to 7 p.m. No registration is needed for the forum and the reception.
