Robertson School co-sponsors 2019 Poe Film Festival

The third annual Poe Film Festival, featuring contemporary films in the storytelling style of Edgar Allan Poe, will showcase two venues on the VCU campus from Oct. 25 to Oct. 27 thanks to a co-sponsorship with the Robertson School for Media and Culture.
The festival's opening night film "Get Out" will be shown on Friday, Oct. 25, at the Student Commons Theater, followed by a panel discussion moderated by Dr. Shawn Utsey, chair of VCU's Department of African-American Studies. Doors open at 7 pm.
The festival's high school and college film events will be hosted at VCU's Institute for Contemporary Art, 601 W. Broad Street, on Saturday, Oct. 26, starting at 9:30 am and 1 pm respectively. The festival will also screen its best professional Poe-like short films on Oct. 26 at 7 pm. The Pro Film Awards events continue at the ICA on Sunday, Oct. 27, at 1 pm. All Saturday and Sunday events are family-friendly as well as free and open to the public.
A student team from the Robertson School's broadcast journalism capstone "MASC 461 - The Documentary" class will screen its mini-documentary "Stuck in Stone" at the festival on Oct. 26.
