The VCU Robertson School and the VCU Brandcenter made history on Nov. 8-9 when they co-hosted an event which brought the One Club for Creativity to Richmond for the first time. Held at the Brandcenter, 60 students from VCU, James Madison University and the University of Virgina attended the Strategic Workshop and spent two days on a mission to deliver a compelling creative briefing.

Known for visiting the most important advertising cities in the world, the Richmond advertising community and VCU were thrilled to welcome The One Club for Creativity to Richmond.

The event was sponsored by some of the most important names in the advertising community: Arts & Letters Creative Co, Barber Martin Agency, Brand Federation, Capital One, Elevation, Fable Branding & Media, Familiar Creatures, Good Run Research & Recreation, Rocket Pop Media, The Martin Agency, Tilt Creative + Production, and WORK Labs.

Robertson School Assistant Professor Jessica Collins, Brandcenter Director of Student Affairs & Industry Outreach Ashley Sommardahl, and two Robertson School students, Kevin Nguyen & Courtney Foster, spearheaded the planning and worked closely with NiRey Reynolds of the One Club to organize the event.

The first place went to the team that presented a creative brief for Slim Fast, the second place to the team that presented Jell-o and the third place the team that presented Campbell's Soup.

"I would also like to thank our friends at the VCU Brandcenter for teaming up with us, especially Executive Director Vann Graves and Senior Director Ashley Sommardahl. We look forward to additional collaborations in the future," said Dr. Marcus Messner, interim director of the Robertson School. "I had a chance to visit the workshop myself on Friday morning and the energy in the room was fantastic. It was a great event all around."
