Heather Derflinger, a junior in the Robertson School's public relations program, was recently awarded a Richmond Public Relations Foundation scholarship by the Richmond chapter of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA). She is also the 2018-19 vice president of PRSSA at VCU, the student chapter of the professional organization.
"The way Heather combines her enthusiasm for PR with a passion for environmental issues really sets her apart," said Richmond PRSA President Judi Crenshaw, who is also the PRSSA faculty advisor at VCU and a public relations instructor at the Robertson School. "It's a great example of how students can strive to make a positive, lasting impact on society through the PR skills they develop at the Robertson School."
Derflinger won the 2018 William Dietrick Memorial Scholarship of $1,500. The scholarship was established to support students interested in pursuing a career in the public relations field.
