The One Club for Creativity will be holding a Strategic Boot Camp for students of the Robertson School of Media and Culture at the VCU Brandcenter on Nov. 8 and 9. It is the first time a One Club boot camp is held in Richmond.
"This is an amazing opportunity for VCU students to gain exposure to the best that the advertising industry has to offer," said Jessica Collins, one of the organizers of the boot camp and an assistant professor of advertising in the Robertson School. "The event also highlights the outstanding advertising scene in Richmond." Collins is organizing the event with Ashley Sommardahl, director of student affairs and industry outreach at the VCU Brandcenter.
The Strategic Boot Camp is a two-day competition in which students attend workshops by industry leaders on the first day. Students are then assigned a project and compete for the best creative briefings, judged by professionals at the end of the second day. The event is sponsored by various leading companies and agencies in the advertising industry.
"We're very excited to collaborate with our amazing colleagues at the VCU Brandcenter and look forward to great opportunities for our participating students," said Dr. Marcus Messner, interim director of the Robertson School.
