Dr. Itai Himelboim will speak about a new approach to understanding social media on February 7 at 2:00 p.m. in room 308 of Hibbs Hall on VCU’s Monroe Park campus.
In "A Cluster-Centric Approach to Social Network Analysis of Social Media Conversations,” Himelboim will discuss his new approach to understanding social media activity and dynamics. His research examines the emergence of online communities while identifying users in key positions and content that crosses community lines.
Himelboim is an associate professor in the Department of Advertising and Public Relations in the Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication at the University of Georgia.
In his talk, Himelboim will illustrate the application of this theoretical and methodological approach, via a set of his studies in advertising, public relations, health and political communication and corporate communication.
The presentation is free and open to the public and is part of the undergraduate public relations class MASC 425 PR Research. It is sponsored by the Richard T. Robertson School of Media and Culture and the Media, Art & Text Ph.D. program. (The interdisciplinary program includes the Robertson School, the VCU Department of English and the VCU School of the Arts.)
