We, the faculty and staff of the Richard T. Robertson School of Media and Culture, extend our sincere condolences to the Capital Gazette newspaper in Annapolis, Maryland, where five staff members were killed by a gunman Thursday.

Classes in the Robertson School’s curricula cover lots of different skills and concepts related to media and communications, but they can’t cover everything. Special topics classes cover themes and issues not covered in other classes. We often use them to “test drive” a class before making it permanent.
Leaders from Tajikistan examine open governance in Virginia

The Robertson School of Media and Culture will co-host a delegation of five Tajik leaders who will spend April 13-18 in Richmond examining the American system of government, with an emphasis on accountable governance, as part of the Open World Program. The program enables emerging Eurasian political and civic leaders to work with their U.S. counterparts and experience American-style democracy at the local level.

It is Friday morning and senior strategic advertising major Allison Fitzgerald and her teammates have been working for 24 hours straight. Their task? Overhaul the logo and brand identity of St. John’s Church Foundation, which preserves and oversees the historic property at which Patrick Henry delivered his “Give me liberty or give me death!” speech in 1775 that led to the American Revolution.
