Communications Internship 

Description of Organization:  

Global Surgical Expedition is a 501c3 NGO founded in 2012 with the mission to deliver  surgeries and help improve care access for the 5 billion people worldwide that lack access to  basic surgical care. Our global mission involves 4 pillars focused on improving access to  surgical care worldwide: delivering surgeries and surgical infrastructure, education, research,  and advocacy. GSE has treated over 1600 patients, provided over 600 surgeries. and delivered  over $500,000 in donated medical supplies to countries in need.  

We are looking for talented team members to make a difference in the lives of many across the  world.  

Job duties:

  • Help our team refine and effect our comprehensive communications and fundraising strategic plan. 
  • Organize and edit our media repository including photo and video content.
  • Manage, design, edit and publish print and electronic communications including e newsletters, annual report, blogs, press releases and collateral. 
  • Assist in management of social media strategy, including content creation and online advertising. Oversee online marketing campaigns and related performance metrics.
  • Assist with marketing research and strategy to identify outlets for press releases,  content dissemination, professional engagement. 

Qualifications applicants should possess:  

  • Excellent writing, editing, and verbal skills. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite including Office 365 products, Sharepoint.
  • Strong experience with photo and video editing software and related content editing. 
  • Self-starter with ability to work independently, manage deadlines, set priorities, and identify opportunities for the larger organization. 
  • Works well in a startup environment with ability to balance multiple tasks including both independent and collaborative projects. 
  • Prior experience overseeing communications strategy and media management  is preferred (including internships).

This internship is offered year-round. Hours are flexible. This is a paid internship at $12/hour.
